Kansas
In "William
G. Cutler's History of the State of Kansas" ist folgende Angabe: "J.
W. Gordon, in 1860, opened a stock of general merchandise in a 13x14
feet room, and his business increased to large proportions. The
building is a store room in the rear of Lewis Sarbach's
store."
An anderer Stelle heißt es dort zu Jackson
County: "Jackson County has had but a small number of its citizens who have been "held in durance vile," neither
has it had a large pauper list; eight persons in 1882 being the number that the county provided for. In
January 1876, the county made purchase of the west one-half of Section 14, Township 7, Range 16, the
consideration being $2,500; the grantors were William A. Allen, and Lewis Sarbach. Upon consideration
this was not deemed an eligible site for a Poor Farm, and on August 30, 1879, the county exchanged this
half section with W. R. Wright for the southwest quarter of Section 26, Township 6, Range 13, receiving
in exchange $250. Soon thereafter a dwelling was erected on the farm, the contract price being about
$825."
Und im gleichen Band taucht ein Victor Sarbach auf - als Mitglied zweier Logen: "Independent Order of Odd Fellows.-- Holton Lodge, No. 34, was organized May 1, 1868. Its charter members were as follows: J. H. Keller, N. G.; A. W. Moore, V. G.; Victor Sarbach,

Ein Hinweis auf eine mögliche Tochter von Victor Sarbach findet sich im gleichen Band. Dort heißt es: "M.WEIL, merchant, was born in Alsace, France, December 1, 1858; came to America in October, 1875, and settled at Atchison; moved to Muscotah, Kan., and engaged in general merchandising. He came to Burr Oak, Jewell Co., Kan., in January, 1880, and engaged in the same line of business, in a
room 22x80 feet, and carries a stock of from $16,000 to $18,000. He is a member of the K. of P. (Knights of Pyhtias), and was married in Holton, Jackson Co., Kan., March 1, 1881, to Miss Ida Sarbach, and they have one child - Carl, born April 28, 1882."
Topeka, Kan. : Geo Crane & Co., 1903).
